The Price of Spray Foam Insulation: 4 Things That Can Affect Your Budget

The Price of Spray Foam Insulation: 4 Things That Can Affect Your BudgetIf you want to make your home more energy efficient then you’re likely considering how insulation can help. However, you may also be wondering how much it’s going to cost you. While the cost can be recouped over time via lower utility bills, that doesn’t help a family that can’t afford to have it installed in the first place.

The total price of insulation is going to vary based on a wide variety of factors, including the kind of spray foam you use. That said, there are four factors that are going to be the most impactful when it comes to pricing. The best way to find out for sure what your project would cost you is to call Progressive Insulation & Windows at (800) 500-6200 and request a free consultation. Otherwise, read on to find out more about the four deciding factors in insulation price.

  1. The type of siding your home has
  2. The cost of installing your insulation can significantly increase the overall cost of the project. A lot of it depends on the siding your home has. If you have a home that’s sided in vinyl, then a professional installer can likely get the project completed quickly and easily. Vinyl siding essentially pops right off with the right tools, which allows us to drill holes that can serve as the entry point for the insulation.

However, if your home is sided in brick siding then we’d need to drill into the mortar to get to a point where we’re able to inject the insulation. Once we’ve injected the foam and ensured that all cavities are full, we’d use mortar to fill in the holes we made. While this can be expensive, it’s still well worth the benefits.

  3. The area you need coverage
  4. The price of the total project will be affected by how much spray foam is used and how much spray foam is used will be largely dependent on the size of the area for which you need coverage. If you want an entire building insulated then we’ll need more spray foam than we would if just a portion of your building needed added insulation.

  5. The location of the insulation
  6. Another factor is the condition and climate of the area we’re working with. If there’s any reason that the area you need sprayed has a different climate than the rest of the property, then it can affect the spray foam. For example, we’d often need to use closed-cell spray foam if we’re dealing with an area that may flood. If flooding isn’t likely, then we’d use the more affordable open-cell spray foam.

  7. The location of the property
  8. Depending on whether or not we’re working on a home or business, there may be certain codes that must be met. If you live in a planned community then you may have additional codes that must be followed. These can increase the cost of the project.
